The main objectives were :
- to improve the support for authoring and publishing of content by distributed non IT-staff
- to offer personalized services to students, staff, and partners through the university portal
- to syndicate numerous and heterogeneous information sources from all faculties, departments, and partners.
The quality of the implemented solution :
- all non-IT staff can now create and manage published content with SmartEdit interface
- 2 IT staff were trained by Reddot, and can now maintain the project on their own
- integration of all services for students and staff in a single portal managed by LiveServer
- transparent single sign-on to all integrated applications
Main challenges :
- the heterogeneous nature of integrated legacy and third-party applications
The result :
- the web site online since September 2005
Some figures :
- 1 CMS Server (Windows 2000/Microsoft SQL Server 2000), 5 concurrent administrators, 25 concurrent editors
- 20 000 students and 5000 staff access their personalized portal for all common services
